Major
I am currently majoring in Health Science on a Pre-Physician Assistant track. After exploring various healthcare career options, I chose this major because it offers a strong foundation in public health, healthcare systems, and patient care all of which are essential for becoming a PA. I also had the opportunity to speak with a Physician Assistant at my primary care facility, who gave me helpful advice on courses to take and ways to gain hands-on experience outside the classroom. This summer, I plan to take on several job shadowing opportunities, both with that PA and at other facilities, to gain deeper insight into the profession. Majoring in Health Science is helping me build the academic and practical skills I need to successfully move forward toward PA school and a career focused on patient-centered care.
Career Goals
My career goal is to become a Physician Assistant, and I am fully committed to pursuing this path. PAs play a vital role in patient care by diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, and assisting in procedures often working in specialties such as orthopedics, family medicine, and sports medicine. I will graduate with my Health Science degree in December 2025, and I plan to apply to PA programs during the next application cycle.
Currently, I am applying to job shadowing experiences at various hospitals and clinics across Indianapolis to expand my understanding of healthcare delivery and patient interaction. These experiences will me build a strong foundation as I prepare to apply to PA school and begin the interview process.
As a future PA, I’m especially passionate about helping individuals particularly active populations maintain healthy lifestyles and prevent injuries. I aim to work in a setting where I can combine my interests in health, movement, and rehabilitation, offering personalized care that empowers patients to thrive.
I understand that achieving this goal will require discipline, effort, and continued growth. However, I am confident in my path and excited for the opportunity to serve others through a meaningful and impactful healthcare career.
